The Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, or SIEPR, is Stanford’s institute for economic policy research. Founded in 1982, it produces and shares evidence-based knowledge intended to inform responses to major economic challenges. Its research and events connect scholars, policymakers, business leaders and the public.1,2

01 — The profile

An editorial identity

SIEPR describes itself as a nonpartisan research institute and Stanford’s home for economic policy scholarship. More than one hundred faculty members from the university’s seven schools work across areas including education, energy, trade, health, inequality, innovation, finance, competition and work.1,2

The SIEPR Economic Summit is one of the institute’s public formats. Its 2024 edition convened more than five hundred leaders from business, research and government; Jensen Huang delivered a keynote about NVIDIA’s rise and the future of artificial intelligence, published on SIEPR’s official YouTube channel.3,4,5
