Monika Halan is an Indian author, journalist and financial educator whose work connects household finance, consumer protection and financial-product design. She founded Dhan Chakra Financial Education, has written several books for Indian families and has contributed to public-policy work. As of August 2026, the Securities and Exchange Board of India lists her as chair of its Advisory Committee for the Investor Protection and Education Fund.1,2

Monika Halan holds a master’s degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a second master’s in journalism studies from the College of Cardiff, University of Wales. She has worked with Mint, The Economic Times, The Indian Express and Outlook Money and has led or presented personal-finance television series on NDTV, Zee and Bloomberg India. Her current work combines writing, speaking, applied research and family financial education.1
Her public-policy work includes sales incentives, mutual funds, financial redress and investor protection. She served on SEBI’s Mutual Fund Advisory Committee from 2009 to 2021 and, as of August 2026, chairs the advisory committee for the Investor Protection and Education Fund. SEBI describes that committee as recommending investor-education and protection activities supported by the fund.1,2

Her later books address subjects including mutual funds and the transfer of financial information to loved ones.
